Part 3 of the complete Ghuzar guide. The loft on Ghuzar is not just a list of birds — it is a daily diary that reminds you.

1. Pairs

Pairs tab ⇐ "+": choose the cock and hen from your birds (there is search by name and ring). The pair gets a card with both photos and its status: settled · eggs · squabs · split.

Not sure which is the cock? The article "How to tell a cock from a hen" is coming to the website soon — until then, the signs of a cock: the long cooing, turning and bowing.

2. Eggs

From the pair's card ⇐ "Record eggs": the date of the first egg. The app calculates the expected hatch date (~18 days), shows it in the live loft bar and sends you a reminder before it. If an egg goes bad mark it "infertile" — the statistics stay honest.

3. The squab from the egg

On hatch day ⇐ "Hatched" on the egg: a new bird is created automatically with its parents linked and the correct hatch date — no need to add it by hand and link the pedigree. Just fill in the name and photo when it grows.

4. Vaccinations

Vaccinations tab:

  • Batch recording: choose the vaccine from the encyclopedia catalogue (vaccines) and the date, and tick every bird vaccinated that day — one row per bird is recorded.
  • The programme: each vaccine has a page showing who was vaccinated and who was missed, and the next dose date with a reminder.
  • Search by name or ring inside the list.

Read the vaccination calendar for the Egyptian year to know when, and see the full basic programme in The basic vaccination programme for pigeons in Egypt.

5. Health status

From the bird's file ⇐ Health status: healthy · under observation · sick · in treatment. Record a vet visit with the diagnosis, medication and date — a medical history builds up that matters at sale time or when you go to a new vet. Diseases come from the encyclopedia so the names stay consistent.

6. The live loft bar

Above the loft a bar summarises the day: eggs about to hatch · a vaccination due · a bird under observation. If the bar is empty — your loft is fine.
