Candidiasis (Sour Crop / Thrush) in pigeons — illustration

عدوى فطرية حادة أو مزمنة بتصيب الجهاز الهضمي غالبًا، وبتحصل بسبب أكل عليقة مبللة أو متعفنة أو حامضة، أو مياه شرب ملوثة.

Symptoms

Poor growth in young pigeons, crop accumulation, whitish fungal growths in throat.

Causes

فطر Candida albicans (خميرة)

Transmission

أكل عليقة مبللة أو متعفنة أو حامضة، أو مياه شرب متسخة.

Diagnosis

الفحص المجهري للنموات الفطرية في الحلق.

Treatment

Isolate affected bird, antifungal (e.g. nystatin), high-dose vitamin A.

Prevention

Improve feeding/watering environment, prevent feed and water contamination.
