Egyptian Shami

The Egyptian Shami group — houses of the Egyptian Ghuzar that appear in the book within the Talaween chapter, comprising the Egyptian Halabi, the Egyptian Absi and the Arnafl (Qoronfoli). All have become very scarce and some are close to extinction. Terminology: a wad'a is a cluster of small white feathers shaped like a cowrie shell, sitting on the front of the neck just below the beak; a hegab is a triangular patch of white feathers at the base of the neck behind, where it meets the shoulders.
