Meswed Teltein

Although not a foundation house, it is now the most numerous of all Meswed forms among keepers. It is the product of the Meswed Balha crossed over the Meswed Khanafes, and is therefore the Meswed form most likely to throw sports — as regards the beak it is the form most likely to produce a Meswed with a Balha beak or very close to one. The head comes from behind in a light rotation with the neck, and from the front with a face plane and a fine crown. The beak is of medium length (teltini) and thickness, emerging from the crown, wine-coloured with dark shading, with wine nails and one black nail (dabl). Semi-round eye, relatively wide with slight opening, black pupil, olive iris and a speckled olive-green ring — sometimes found as dark olive, though the former is correct. Wine eyelids of medium thickness. Medium chest with muscle and strength; strong-sinewed legs of medium size with some coarseness, standing on the hocks. Body wholly matt black with white wing shields, tail and back (selt); being a cross of the Balha and the Khanafes the body is sometimes found lustrous black, but matt is preferable.
