أشيع أنواع الديدان في الحمام، بتعيش في الأمعاء وتتغذى على الطعام المهضوم، وشائعة أكتر في الحمام البري وأقل في حمام السباق المُتابَع صحيًا.

Symptoms

General lethargy; heavy infestations (300+ worms in one bird) can cause severe emaciation.

Causes

ديدان مستديرة (Ascaridia columbae) — دورة حياة معوية مباشرة، واليرقات ممكن تتحوصل في الرئة والكبد.

Transmission

بيض الدودة بيتحط في الزرق، والطائر بيتعدي عن طريق أكل حلزون أو ديدان أرض أو حشرات ناقلة.

Diagnosis

فحص مجهري للزرق للكشف عن بيض الديدان، أو تشخيص عند التشريح.

Treatment

Moxidectin, piperazine, levamisole, ivermectin, or selamectin.

Prevention

Loft hygiene, preventive deworming program at least every 6 months.
