من أكتر وأشيع أمراض الحمام انتشارًا، سببها بكتيريا سالبة الجرام متحركة، وبتدخل القن عن طريق طيور مصابة أو قوارض أو غبار ملوث أو حتى أحذية المربي.

Symptoms

Rapid weight loss, greenish loose droppings, joint swelling/wing boils, "twisted neck", squab deaths before 2 weeks.

Causes

بكتيريا سالمونيلا (Salmonella)

Transmission

إدخال طيور مصابة، قوارض، استنشاق غبار ملوث، أحذية المربي، صراصير، أو تلامس مع حمام بري. الطائر اللي بيتعافى ممكن يفضل حامل ومصدر عدوى.

Diagnosis

زرع بكتيري وحساسية من عينة براز أو أنسجة — الزرع والحساسية مهمان بسبب الحوامل ومقاومة المضادات، ومينفعش الاعتماد على مضاد حيوي روتيني بدون تحليل.

Treatment

Antibiotic per culture/sensitivity (e.g. oxytetracycline, enrofloxacin) with strict loft hygiene.

Prevention

Regular hygiene, disinfection, rodent/pest control, quarantine new birds, water acidification below pH 4.
